How to Request Account and Data Deletion
If you wish to delete your BFCA Connect account and all associated personal data, you can do so by following these steps:
Option 1: In-App Deletion (Recommended)
You can delete your account directly from within the BFCA Connect mobile app:
- Open the BFCA Connect app and log in to your account.
- Navigate to your Profile Settings.
- Scroll down and tap on Account Management or Privacy.
- Select Delete Account.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the deletion of your account and data.
Option 2: Email Request
If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing us:
- Send an email to privacy@bfcaconnect.com from the email address associated with your BFCA Connect account.
- Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request".
- In the body of the email, please state that you would like your account and associated data to be permanently deleted.
- Please allow up to 30 days for us to process your request and securely delete your data.
What Data is Deleted?
When you delete your account, we will permanently remove your personally identifiable information from our active databases, including:
- Account Information: Name, email address, password hash, and profile photo.
- Profile Information: Bio, interests, professional background, and mentor preferences.
- Communications: Direct messages sent to other users (these will be removed from your outbox, though recipients may still have copies depending on their own retention).
- Authentication Data: Any OAuth tokens or sessions linked to your account.
What Data is Retained?
For legal, security, and platform integrity purposes, strictly limited non-personally identifiable data may be retained even after your account is deleted:
- Anonymized Survey Responses: Any survey responses you submitted will be completely stripped of personal identifiers and retained strictly in an aggregated, anonymous format to maintain the integrity of broader community insights.
- Security Logs: Server logs that may contain your IP address and connection details are retained for a maximum of 90 days to detect and prevent fraud, spam, or security breaches.
- Legal Compliance: We may retain specific records if strictly required to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, or enforce our Terms and Conditions.
Data Retention Period
Upon receiving a valid deletion request (either via the app or email), we will initiate the deletion process immediately. It may take up to 30 days for all of your personal data to be completely purged from our active systems and backup archives.
